Cosset Territories

As you enter into the Cosset Territories, you are required to check in with the Management Office.  You enter into the wooden building and look around.  The room is sparsely furnished.  There is a fire place along one wall, and in front of it, there are a few tables and chairs set up.  Besides that, there is only a large desk.  You go over to the desk and look around.  No one seems to be here.  Just as you are turning to leave, a voice speaks.

"Can I help you?"

You turn and see a small boy perched on on of the tables.  How did he get there so quickly?

"Well?"  He asks.  "Can I or can't I?"

"Umm, yes," you say, "I was hoping to enter the Territories."

"Hmm.." he says, putting a small hand to his chin in an adult-like manner and eyeing you.  "To what ends?"  He asks, raising an eyebrow.  You aren't sure whether you are amused or disturbed by the precocious child.

"Umm... I'm not exactly sure," you say.  "I heard something about there being rare and unusual creatures here."

"Hmm..." He says again.  He glances around the office, as though he's asking the walls for their opinion on the matter.  "Rare and unusual..."

Suddenly, a girl walks in.  She is dressed in more rustic attire and carries a walking stick.

Kathryn

"Kyle, stop harassing the travelers!"  She says to the younger boy.  He drops his hand from his face and snaps up his head.

"Hey," he says, "you can't be too careful.  I've heard the stories about poachers the same as you, you know."

"This person is not a poacher," she says simply.  She then turns to you.  "Hello, my name is Kathryn.  Kyle and I run the office when Indyana cannot be here."

The name rings a bell.  You remember meeting her at the Creature Refuge.  "Nice to meet you," you say.  "I was hoping to enter the Territories."

"Well," she says, "we will not stop you, but you have to be aware of some things before you enter."

"Okay," you say.

"First off, we cannot guarantee your safety.  The creatures here aren't like those at the Refuge, and while many may be polite and friendly, there are just as many here who are not so polite and would rather make a meal out of you."  Kathryn pauses, gauging your reaction.  You wait for her to continue, and she nods slowly.  "Also, some portions of the Territory are off limits.  You must stay on the paths at all times.  If there isn't a path to somewhere, then that area is off limits for now.  Understood?"

You nod, and Kathryn continues.

"Good.  We expect to keep opening up new areas once they have been explored and paths built, but for now, only some areas are open to travelers.  The third point is that you must follow the rules of the Territory.  Before you enter, you will have to read the rules and agree to follow them.  Failure to follow the rules could lead to your expulsion from the Territories and, in some cases, death."  Kathryn gives you a stern stare.

"D-death?"  You say.  Kyle smirks at your reaction.

"Yeah," he says, grinning.  "Some of the larger things here aren't too forgiving if they catch you breaking the rules."

"That's 'Yes', Kyle," Kathryn corrects, "and what Kyle says is unfortunately true.  As I said, we cannot be responsible for your safety in the Territories.  Any questions?  If not, I'll let you read the rules, and you can be on your way."
